Mystical, orange cliffs
Reach out to heaven
They rest in silence
Until the next wave gently
Rolls up on the shore
The cool water rises daily
From mountains melting into the lake
The sun warms the rocks at dawn
And the giggles begin, I relax.
Love abounds in this place
Alone in the silence with my clan
We passed farmland and livestock
And a mountain pass
Through flash floods where boulders
Crash on the asphalt
But we reached an endless desert
Where an army of stars stares
At the breadth and expanse of life
And it is Good.
I do not know how many more breaths I have left
Living on this planet
But there will never be too much adventure
To the riches and marvels of Mother Nature’s gentle hand.
Amen.
